Windy hike

Recently we explored more of Acadia and hike Pemetic Mountain. It was a beautiful fall day with glorious colors on the trees. 

Oh, and a bit windy. 

After summiting we took shelter from the 40+ mph gusts and had some food. 

Halloween

Halloween 2016 is in the books. 

The kids each designed their own pumpkins. Wesley's is on top and Molly's is on the bottom (she drew hers while Wes told me what he wanted). 

Despite never having seen Star Wars, Wes wanted to go as Darry Vader. We've been making our way through the Harry Potter series so Molly wanted to be a witch. 

Soccer star

Wes started soccer practice today. It's a "learn the game" thing as opposed to playing on teams.

Wes did an awesome job with all of the skills drills and had a blast. 

First day of school

It's that time of year again. 

Molly's going into 1st grade and Wesley's going into the second year of preschool.

Tour de Yarmouth

Today was a big day in the Magoun household. It was the kids first bike race. 

As you can see, they were all pumped up for the race.

The kids found a bubble stick this afternoon. Cue an hour of bubble chasing. 

The kids took turn chasing the bubbles. 

But some got away...

First day of camp

The kids were all excited to start their first day of summer camp. 

Watering

Molly planted some beans and corn at school. Those have been transplanted to our garden. Now, the question is, how do we ensure the plants get water while we're gone? 

We don't have a spigot nearby and don't want to buy a long hose, timer, or sprinkler. So we're trying an experiment. The hope is that the water in the clay pots will slowly leach into the soil and water the plants for a few days. We're not sure exactly how we're going to cover the top yet though. 

Adventure weekend

This weekend we went up to the Carrabassett Valley region for a few days of outdoor adventure. 

Saturday was mountain biking day.

Riding the trails! The kids did a AWESOME job. 

On Sunday we went for a hike up Tumbledown Mountain. The hike was a bit longer than we had originally planned, but we made it through in one piece. 

Near the top of the mountain is a pond. Perfect for a rest, and for trying to catch fish.

We had originally planned on making it a loop hike, but this sign and one look at the trail down convinced us to just go back the way we came. It made the hike longer, but safer.
