Sanibel

We recently took a trip to Sanibel to escape the winter weather here.

The first few days were spent in Tampa and the kids had a great time running around.
Thankfully they were also tuckered out enough to fall asleep immediately each night.

And then we got there.

The kids couldn't wait to get to the beach.

The warmer weather allowed for a few runs outside and on the beach. Molly's cheering on Katie here.

A new thing for this trip was that Molly has graduated to a trail-a-bike. She kept telling me that she was "going to pick up the speed a bit."

There was much playing on the beach with Grandma.

Wes "helped" me keep up my swimming fitness.

Kids at the Sanibel Lighthouse.

The kids were enthralled with the shells.

We were even able to get away for a nice dinner and a drink on the beach.

The pelicans made a show of getting their dinner too.

Love the colors in the shells.

Later in the week the weather turned colder. But that didn't stop the beach walks.

With the weather getting colder, we went to the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation to check out the famed Sanibel bobcat.

Despite the extremely loud and rude family ahead of us, we did manage to see some wildlife.

And enjoy some peace and quiet.

And then the kids started running around again.

Family photo.

We had some issues getting home with flight canceled, etc. But the kids once again took it like champs.

And then we went back to the great white north.
