Fixed

We brought Teeni (my nickname for Athena) home from the vet this afternoon after her spay surgery yesterday. The good news is that she did fine, and despite some bald spots and, of course, some stiches, she's no worse for the wear. Oh, well, if you don't include the silly head cone the poor dear has to wear continually for the next 10-14 days.

To divert our attention to Athena's pathetic circumstances, Andy let me open my Christmas present early (Truthfully, the box was HUGE. It was literally blocking the door to the kitchen.).

For those of you who don't know, this is Jackson Pollock's Lavender Mist, my favorite painting by my favorite artist. We thought about getting the original, but as Andy's mom tactfully pointed out, our insurance premiums would sky-rocket. Luckily for me, the original is at the National Gallery, and now -- thanks to Andy -- I have this one on the wall next to my bed to tide me over until my next visit to the real one.

Our cat had to wear a cone after surgery. Wait till the cat food gets caught in the contraption!
